What Really Makes a House a Home?

Home is a place, a place I am lucky to have. A place where I will always feel safe. A place where I don't have to worry about anything. A place where I can relax. When I get home from school, I look to the left and see my mom working on her laptop with a cat on her lap, then look to the right and see my dad in the kitchen making hot chocolate. Home is a place I know for sure I won't be judged or mocked. The feeling of coming home is like none other. Home is where I go to sleep and wake up everyday. Home is where I have dinner with my family. Home is where we watch movies together while my sister drops popcorn into the couch. Home is where I play basketball in my driveway and play video games with my friends. My favourite place in my home is my bedroom. I remember when I helped paint it when we first moved in (I chose bright green!). It’s where I have all the stuff that matters most to me like my posters and ribbons from track meets and drawings I drew taped to the walls. My room is special to me because it's my own personal space. Everybody needs and deserves a safe place to call home. A place to eat, a place to sleep and a place to have fun. Maybe that starts with some walls and empty rooms with a roof on it… but it's the memories, the things you love, the food, the friends and the family inside it that really makes a house a home.
