Home to Me

Home is the smell of butter cup cookies that my dad makes every day. It is the sound of my brothers playing board games and my sister playing her big old brown guitar. It is the memories of my first baby steps and my first words. Home is where I am loved and respected, where I can sleep safe in my bed at night. It’s the taste of the sweet hot chocolate and the sweets my mom and I make. At night, I see my big black and white cats fighting and the books falling off the old black shelves. Home is the feeling of my giant red blanket on my soft bed at midnight. In the summer we go to my pond and catch the biggest fish. At the end of the day home is where I want to be with my family.
