Heart is Where the Home Is
Home is, to me
The root of my family.
The walls hold my memories;
The roof supports my dreams.
Home’s like a tree
With knobbly branches and bright leaves.
It’s not perfect.
It’s not big.
But it’s home.
And that’s all I ever want it to be.
It keeps me rooted
It keeps me strong.
It keeps me safe.
It keeps me standing tall.
At home, my family waits for me
They wrap me in an embrace.
And in that moment, I can see
Home is really the best place.
That is why I want to help
Other people like you and me.
That is why I’m writing this poem
For Habitats For Humanity.
So that others can have a home
As beautiful as mine.
To cherish and to care for
‘Till the end of time.
