Home to Me
Home is where my heart must stay,
Home is where we sleep and play.
I smell my mom baking cookies,
So I go take a lookie.
As I walk to my room, I hear my hamster munching on a treat,
So I go to her cage and I take a seat.
As I sit I think of dying,
Then I think of my soul flying.
Up away from my home, my place,
Up away, high above space.
But when I think that I know I have more than a day,
On this Earth is where my heart will stay.
As I think my brother Harlan walks in,
He says the cookies will be ready in a min.
As we walk downstairs I hear mom call cookies are ready,
When we get to the oven Harlan says that one's shaped like a teddy,
As I eat I taste chocolate chips,
It melts as it gently hits my lips.
Knock knock dad is here,
Now my home is full of cheer.
Home to you may be a roof and walls,
But home to me it’s where my heart calls.
