If I Could Build A Home
If I could build a home,
I would fill concrete with love.
Ceilings would be made with kindness, floors would be made of peace.
The air would be full of happiness, and people would be milling about.
If I could build a home, it would have 20 floors and
each one filled with rooms for all to stay.
If I could build a home, it would be accessible for all.
Ramps for wheelchaired people, nurses for the sick and wounded.
If I could build a home,
I would make it so when you stepped into it, you would see joy on everybody's faces.
You would hear laughter and kindness.
You would feel warmth seep through your body.
You would smell delicious food from every corner of the world.
You would taste the taste of freedom.
If I could build a home,
When you enter it you could see people
dancing with smiles on their faces.
You could hear sweet music playing and making
you feel at home.
If I could build a home,
When you stepped inside it you would be greeted by
a cacophony of sounds and people.
You could plop down on a couch and read a book
or start cooking in a customized kitchen just for you.
If I could build a home,
I would make it so everybody would be safe.
So that everybody would be happy.
Would be confident.
Would get what they needed.
Would be a community for all to be included.
If I could build a home,
It would be dedicated to Habitat for Humanity.
Everybody who is homeless would be homeless no more.
It would be clean.
It would be what they need.
It would be a home.
For all.
