The True Meaning of Home
Home is a word of many meanings, and none of them are wrong. Home means returning from work or school to your family, a warm supper, and letting go of all stress and worries of that day. Home can’t be defined by an apartment, or a house, home is being around people who you care about , feeling loved and cared about. Home is not something that stays in one place, it follows you everywhere. For some people, home is a roof over their head, staying warm and dry, and spending time with their family. For me, home looks like a golden retriever going for a walk with its owner in my neighborhood. Home feels like the soft body of a stuffy on my bed. Home sounds like the sound of my mom setting the table for dinner. Home tastes like the bittersweet taste of hot chocolate as it pours down my throat. Many people are fortunate enough to have a home, a shelter from worries and stress, a place to be happy again after a rough day. Home can be many things. Home can be school where you chatter at recess with your friends, or the comforting crackle of a campfire during a camping trip. Home doesn’t need to be a thing or a place, though. Home could be your lovable dog waiting for you as you come back from school, your cat that plays with you every day, your little brother or sister coming for a hug. Home reminds you that you always have a second chance to fix things. Home gives you a second chance to correct yourself and turn on the right path before it’s too late to change. Home is where people feel that they belong.
