What does home mean to you?

In 2022, Canada took in over 437,000 refugees from other countries which shocked all who inhabit Canada because the goal that was set by the government of Canada was 431,645 refugees. The way that we provided a home and a hope for all the people whose countries were inhabitable because of war, humanitarian, climate change or even more personal items such as family conflict. Even if you are not a refugee, I believe that you will still find great comfort while living in the beautiful country of Canada. However, you may ask what if you were born in Canada not another sparkling place.Even if that is true, you will still fit in pretty well, because most of my class was born and raised in Canada, and they fit in just like the maple leaf does on the Canadian flag. After all, you have to get lost to get found, and you are extremely lucky if you get found by Canada. During 2022, there was a war that disturbed a vast amount of the world. The item of interest is of course, the russo-ukrainian war that started on the 24th of February, 2022. This war shook the ground below the unsuspecting ukrainians during the first ever invasion. Those civilians thought that they would never be safe again, until countries all over the place started taking in refugees from ukraine to help shield them from the war.Canada was a great place for them to go, and we immediately started welcoming refugees into our country. The speed that the people settled into Canada was remarkable, showing just how great of a home Canada is to everyone. No matter where you were born, you will still have a very hospitable environment in this country. The evidence of that is the very person who wrote this piece.I am a person who has moved multiple times, but never have I fit in more than in Canada where they welcomed me with open arms, and kind neighbors everywhere I looked. There have been very few things that I have disliked about Canada after spending the past 2 years in this country, I sometimes even feel like I am back in dallas, with my old friends, and classmates.Expanding further from the subject of me, I have met lots of other people that have moved here from India, U.S.A, China and a lot of other places too.No matter where they came from, though all of them said that they have never felt more at home anywhere in the world. However, one of the biggest ways you can fit in is if you were born in Canada, because being born in a place is a great way for you to fit into the location where you were born, because you know the place, have deep connections there, and many others. The most incredible people that have made Canada their home are the indigenous people, who are using all of Canada’s great gifts such as the buffalo, sweetgrass, sage, and tobacco. The way that they live off the land, and use every part of the buffalo is extraordinary, and resourceful. That is how Canada is home to them. The support for this is that to feel what being at home really is isn’t just where you live, but much more. You should feel what home truly means to you.You should feel that you are safe to tell what is going on through your lives, and know the people will always be with you. In conclusion, I feel that home means knowing that you can trust all who surround you, and always having that calm, relaxed feeling of knowing all around you, and feeling that you would never want to leave the kind, and caring people that live here in the beautiful place that you call home. The feeling of bliss that you get when you get back from the vacation, and step back into your residence knowing you are back home. That is what I feel like when I am at home. That is what home means to me.
