If Home Were Your Five Senses
Home smells like freshly baked cookies fresh out of the oven,
and that cleaner your mom loves.
A house smells like dirt and cement.
Home looks bright and white, like morning doves,
A house looks gloomy and bent.
Home tastes like the supper your dad made,
Mashed potatoes with meat and veggies sauteed.
A house tastes musty and dusty.
Home feels like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter day,
Or a soft blanket, that’s colorful, not gray.
A house feels broken and rough.
Home sounds like talking and laughter,
A house sounds like nothing now and after.
A house can be a home for anyone, but
home is safe for everyone,
