If Home Were

If home were a sight, It would be a wonderful blue and yellow sunset. If home were a sound, It would be the laughter of my family while I tell them about my day. If home were a smell, It would be Essential oils covering up the smell of failed cooking practices and My mom’s perfume that I could smell for miles. If home were a taste, It would be hot chocolate after coming in from the best snow ball fight and chocolate chips that you stole from the fridge. If home were a touch, It would be snuggling up to your family while watching a scary movie. I'm as grateful as can be that I get healthy food, clean water, a place that is so cozy and warm, a door to keep the wind at bay, a shelter so I don't get rained on. I'm thankful for my family and friends and for the school educators. I am thankful for Habitat for Humanity for building houses and helping those in need who wish to make a house their home, just like mine. I do hope that people understand that it's not about houses, it's about homes.
