What Makes a House a Home
A Home is not a structure or a building; it is a feeling of warmth, safety, and the people or pets you love. When you have a bad day at school or another place outside, you can’t wait to get to the place of sanctuary that makes you feel safe. When you curl up in your bed and your family tucks you in, or when you wake up from a nightmare, and you feel scared, your family and home are always there to comfort you. Have you ever been in your home as the cold, wet storm rages outside the window? You are frightened, but you don’t have to worry because you know your family will always be there for you and get you a warm mug of hot chocolate.
Your family sits down for a nice, warm meal, all talking about their days and laughing at jokes. The meal is warm and the smell of all the spices and flavours wafts into your nose. You and your family are playing a family board game and smiling at each other's moves as you spend time with them. When you walk in the door, your pet is waiting to love you if you had a bad day, and to comfort you when you feel sad or angry. All of these things, a warm feeling, a sense of safety, and the bond of people and pets, are what make a house a home.
