Home Could Be
Home is not a place, it is a feeling.
The feeling of happiness and gratitude for the home we are so lucky to have. You feel at home at your house, apartment, your community, your school, backyard, or at the pool, or in the woods, or even your best-friend's house. Home is like magic. It’s always there for you. It’s where we feel most comfortable and relaxed, safe and secure. Soft and rounded over hard and edged.
Home could be a book. The pages reflect your past, present, and future. Engraved with memories and thoughts. Home could be a smell. The smell of fresh air, or burnt wood. The smell of laundry detergent. The smell of your grandma’s cooking. Home can be a bad smell, like smoke, gas from your car, or your bathroom.
Home could be a taste. The most familiar, delicate, taste of resilience. Home is like eating your favourite ice cream on a hot summer's day.
Home could be people. Your mom, dad, sisters, brothers, pets, and grandparents. Your spouse, favourite singer, relatives, and more. It is so much more than a house.
Home could be a colour. The colour of your mom’s roses in the antique vase. The colour of your house. Your favourite colour. Or just a colour that makes you feel at home.
Home can be more than one thing. You can make it so. If you really want, you could make home the feeling of finally playing your favourite video game or sport after being grounded or sick. It’s your choice. One thing is certain. You will never forget the feeling of home. You’ll always cherish your memories with family or friends. Home is everything to me and you.
