What Home Means To Me
To me, home isn’t just four walls and a roof. It is where I feel secure. To me, home is family and friends who are kind.
SAFE
Many families do not have safety. There is often disease or war in parts of countries. I am safe, and that is one of the reasons home is home to me.
LOVE
I think of orphans having to move to a house with people they don't know. Love is a wonderful thing to have in homes. Knowing someone loves you is a wonderful feeling.
COURAGE
You are loved by everyone in your family. But maybe not everyone loves you – like bullies. Your family gives you wonderful courage to stand up to them.
SUPPORT
You are supported in every single way. You can be different, be imaginative, love your life and most importantly love your home. There is this wonderful feeling of support from your family.
JUSTICE
Not everyone has justice in their homes. There are some people who don't even have a home. Justice is important in every single way. Fairness is never forced on someone.
HELP
If I'm hurt, my family will help me. That is special. Some will just say, “walk it off like a man!”. And it is not always physical hurt, it can be emotional hurt too. And my family will always be there for me.
SENSITIVE
When I cry, it's not just my family who helps me, it's my wonderful friends too. I am so lucky, because not everyone has such great parents and friends.
NOT ABUSED
I'm in a very safe place where there is never abuse. Remember it's not just kids who can get abused, grown ups too can be abused. In many ways, I am so lucky.
UNIQUE
Every home is unique in many ways, no two homes are the same.
KINDNESS
Not everyone’s family is kind. Kindness is a thing that should spread unlike germs. If I am raging, my mom or dad will say, “want to talk about it?” I love them so much.
RESPECT
Last but definitely not least is the respect everyone deserves.
It is like not being judged. No one deserves to have a label. You can be whoever you want - there’s no label for that.
All of this means home.
