My Home Perspective
I come home and the house is always filled with the incredible smell of kare kare. The wonderful sound of my parents welcoming me home after having a long day of hard work. It's amazing to see people welcoming me and caring for me! My home is welcoming, warm, beautiful, and loving. The taste of the meat of adobo melting inside my mouth. The amazing traditional food always reminds me of my safe and loving home!
Home isn’t just my family, it's my safe place! My house has doors and windows to keep me protected, but my home keeps my heart always protected. My room, always clean because of my mom, my bed feels way more softer knowing my mom cleaned. My brother is always offering to play games with me! My dad is always teasing and joking with me. Having my family care for me and respect me is all my home is about! My parents care about the hobbies and skills I have. From making music, singing, dancing, and playing instruments. They help me grow my interest by heart and mind. Where I can study for my academics and have people who are just like teachers!
Home is where I have always spent all my time. Where my family watched me grow up from day one. My parents documented when I was born, to my 12th birthday. Holidays are always spent with my family and none else! The food I have grown up with, was all cooked by my parents from the heart. Always making sure I stay healthy and happy!
I get to learn more about my culture with many people! From language, to food, to music, and traditional dances. Dancing with a candle on my head and hands. Jumping through bamboo sticks side to side. My family loves to watch me learn more about our heritage and help me learn about our Filipino house. They help me to remember the culture by heart.
Knowing that not every home is your ideal of home. It's still a loving and caring place. Maybe your home isn’t just a place. It could be your family, friends, all sorts of things that you love! Either way, thank you so much Habitat for Humanity for building houses for others in need! Not only just building houses, but also building a wonderful home for others! Building communities and loving places for all!
