A House Made From Love

What makes a home? Home is where I can taste my mom’s crispy naan bread. Where I can smell the lavender candles lit everywhere. Where I run down the stairs to see my dad after his long trip on the road. Home is where everyone I love is around me. Home isn’t just four walls and a roof, that is simply a house. Home is much more than that. It’s not just where you live, it’s where you thrive. Home should be a welcoming place where you can relax and unwind. A house alone isn’t a very welcoming place. It’s just a place where you live. A home is where the love is. If I could see my home from the outside, I would see my family smiling broadly down at me with open arms and the best comforting hugs. If I could smell my home, I would smell my mom’s traditional curry with all the spices imaginable in the world. If I could hear my home, I would hear my mom’s gentle voice saying, “I love you! Have a good day at school!” in the morning before I leave. If I could taste my home, I would taste my mom’s legendary pizzas with the BEST spicy butter chicken sauce all over the pizza. A home can be a house, but it’s a house made from love that makes a home.
