Home: A Haiku By Clara Parkinson
Not always a place
Home is a person or thing
Mostly a feeling
Home is not perfect
But it cares and respects you
That’s more than most do
You don’t sleep at home
You can sleep everywhere
Home is where you rest
Home creates the truth
The truth about lots of things
Important, true things
Home is a comfort
Home is a need for all things
All should have a Home
Not all have a Home
Not all have shelter and care
But I wish they did
Not always happy
Home can be sad, or angry
That doesn’t matter
Home just needs to see
Home just makes you feel better
That’s what a Home is
That is what Home is
A special, important place
One for hope and rest
Home is a strong word
An important one, patient
Home is also love
Home is what makes you
Home is what shapes you, loves you
Home creates what you are
Home recharges you
From the jeers and bullying
So you can be you
Home starts anywhere
Whether it is a first date
Or a final meal
Home goes wherever
Wherever they are, you are
Wherever love is
Home to me is free
Home is the wild wind, huge trees
Home is what makes me
My Home is patient
My Home is kind, strong, respect
My Home is with me.
