What Is A Home?
What is a home? I can tell you that it is not four walls, a door, a couple of windows, and a roof. It is not wood and brick, or a table with comfortable chairs. Home isn’t a specific place but can be anywhere at any time. It is love and kindness, a place where you feel safe and comfortable. Home might be where your family is around you or it might be where you are with your friends. It could be when you are baking with your mom or reading with your dad, it might even be when you are playing your piano for your grandparents. Home could be when you are fighting with your sister too. Home for me is all those things.
Home is my family, but my family is not just my relatives. It is all my friends too! My friends are like family to me because they are so kind to me and help me when I need it. My family does those things as well, so to me my friends are my family.
Home is the memories we share. A couple my favorite memories with my family are when we are sitting around the campfire at St. Malo. Another memory is us outside at my grandparent’s house during happy hour with their friends and family.
Home is a safe place. Life is not all happiness and joy; it has dark moments when you are fighting with someone or sad because a friend moved away. But a home is a place that you can go back to every night and let all those sad things go because you know it is going to be okay.
Home is love, kindness, family, memories, and safety. Everybody deserves a home.
