A deflated black ball

Even though I was born in Winnipeg, when I think of home at first I think of the Philippines, Santa Claus and the Basa's. Of sinigang as hot as a flaming hot chili pepper and chicken adobo. Now today, home is my toy black basketball, deflated because I haven't pumped it up and my rough patterned volleyball. I am from drinking cold chocolate milk in the morning and crunchy cookies after school. I am from staring up at the sky when I was a baby and my cousin put sunglasses on me. I’m from being curious and trying my best. I’m from late game nights and loud coin tosses on New Years Eve. I’m from camping at a spot in the forest and looking forward to visiting the Philippines. When I think of home, I think of being safe.
