House vs. Home
House vs Home
If a house were the five senses,
I would see 4 walls and a roof.
I would catch a faint smell of rusted beams inside the walls.
I would hear the sound of the furnace running in the basement.
I would feel the hardwood floors underneath my feet.
I would taste a take-out meal from the restaurant across the street.
If home were the 5 senses,
I would see a beautiful backyard full of green grass and bright blue flowers.
I would smell a home cooked meal straight out of the oven.
I would hear the laughter of my family sitting around the fireplace.
I would feel my family right beside me comforting me when I am sad.
I would taste a big sip of hot chocolate on the coldest of winter nights.
A house is usually a building with four walls and a roof,
But a home can be anywhere whether it is in a basement or inside a house.
A house is physical,
But a home is in your mind. Anything can be a home as long as you consider it a home.
Everybody deserves a home.
I am thankful for Habitat For Humanity for providing families in need with a safe and comforting home.
That is what home means to me.
