What Home Means to Me
At home I feel safe. I know I am going to sleep in my soft blankets and wake up to see a beautiful shine, while smelling delicious food coming from the kitchen in a household that cares about me. Around my family and friends I have positive thoughts and I enjoy the moment as much as I can. I don’t feel stressed about anything while sitting in my bed, reading a book. Home is somewhere you can be yourself and not worry about others judging you.
At home I am given the right to eat, drink, play, and sleep when I want. There are no restrictions telling me I can’t get fresh air or have a quick snack. If I am ever feeling tired I have the right to sleep, or if I am in a bad mood. I can choose to stay in my room for a while. Home is the place where I actually feel free.
Home is the place I have the most fun. I can have my friends and family over, and I can play outside in my backyard. Even during covid I still managed to have a great time. I laugh, joke, play video games, and watch tv with my siblings. Sometimes moments like this happen outside of my home. Like when my family and I are all outside to have a barbeque!
When I reach home after a long day, I get a relaxed sensation. I listen to the birds chirping while my mouth’s watering as I smell the delicious foods my mom is cooking. I get undressed, take a nice warm shower and then eat. Munching through my food makes me feel even more comfortable. Sometimes, after not being home for a while I don’t feel relaxed or comfortable. Knowing I am home helps me relax. My bed is probably the best place at my home. Feeling the softness of the sheets and pillow. And then falling asleep calmed, relaxed, comfortable, and safe.
Home is like a comfort zone. When we were not feeling well, or were in an uncomfortable situation, we go home. A good home provides protection for anyone, an adult, child or the elderly. We can’t forcefully make a house feel like home. If it’s really home, it’ll already feel like it. Every house has a certain unique feature that attracts the right family. It might be that the house has an extraordinary pattern, or a wonderful backstory. Home is known to be somewhere you’re safe, or you feel safe.
But really home is almost like a reflection of you. It’s a place you don't have to work hard to adapt to, you might feel like you already know the way around. Or you might feel like you've been at that house for a while. That’s when you know you're at the right house. You will also know a house is the right one once you get that feeling of joy or happiness or love. Home isn't an easy word to define but, when you're at the correct house you’ll know you're at home. Always remember that home is not always a house, it could be anything, anywhere.
