A Poem About Home
A house is a shelter over my head
it’s the place where I have a bed
A house has many rooms
a cabinet, where we store brooms
A home is a completely different thing
Where family hears the ideas I bring
a place where family can say
that they love me in every way
Home is where I know I belong,
and I have, all along
In my home my thoughts are heard
not put aside or transferred
When I am upset and I don’t want to hear
My family accepts and simply disappears
In my home I know I belong
Because when I do something wrong
instead of taking the opportunity to make fun of me
we work together, like a mini community
they help me to perceive it
and later to achieve it
My family loves me unconditionally
When I’m a pain in the butt, they still love me
When I act like a nut, they still love me
When I’m straight up rude, they still LOVE me
Because they love me unconditionally
All these things form my home
in which I have the space to roam
I am so grateful for these privileges
because some people don’t even have images
But thankfully, organizations like Habitat for Humanity
are currently trying to help fix this insanity
