Away From Home

I am a cat. I got a bit lost during my travels in the city. I can’t find my home. I walk through the streets sniffing for my home. It was wet and I couldn’t see much through the rain. Then I found a house. There are people inside. They are angry. Yelling. That is not my home. I continue to walk. There is another house. I look into my window. The people here are sad. Crying. That is not my home. There is another house beside it. I look through the window. These people are scared. Fearful. This is not my home. I keep walking. I was far from home. Lost. I saw a bridge. My heart beat faster. My paws tingled with a joyful sensation. I ran over to the bridge. Then I saw them. My owners were sitting under the bridge covered in the blankets that we had. They looked worried, sad and scared but when they saw me it all melted away into joy, love and happiness. They rushed over to me giving me hugs. I felt a purr rise into my throat. This was my home. My home was filled with love, peace, joy and happiness. It didn’t have walls around it but even with walls it couldn’t hold all of the joy inside of it. My love for my family radiated around the city. I didn’t need a house to be happy. By the looks on their faces my family didn’t either. Because deep down inside of all of us our families are all we need.
