Happy Home At Last

I can't believe that just three days ago I was homeless living in a tent with my big sister Ellie. However ,now we have a home, a real home, not just a couch or beds but a place where I feel safe. We used to live in a house before, but things were complicated with my foster parents. We left and we ended up on the streets just like that. I don't remember the details but I know we were not loved or welcomed there. My sister took charge. The first night we stayed at a park. The next day, we went to the mall, bought a tent and went to a park nearby. One day a stray dog visited us. At first, Ellie and I were super scared. As soon as wes saw him, we named him Fuzzy. Every time Fuzzy visited we gave him some bread. Fuzzy grew close to us. So much so, he would even let us touch him. One warm morning in May, Fuzzy came with a newspaper in his mouth. He dropped it by the tent, barked and waited for Ellie . She read the paper, and turned to look at me. Her mouth was wide open and her eyes were gleaming “Amy look what it says” Ellie said, I snatched the paper and read it as fast I could. “Do you need a home? Contact us.” I couldn't believe this was happening!!! Ellie and I ran as fast as we could to the address on the flyer. We were welcomed and offered a home with two bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and small backyard, perfect for our family of 3!. We were in awe. Our tears were not of sadness, but rather, tears of absolute joy!!! “We did it” we said.
