Home
The meaning of home is not feeling alone,
All the memories that I've known,
A place for an urgent conversation,
A safe destination,
A roof over my head,
A nice warm bed.
Home is the safety of Canadians.
Geese fly by,
Laughter through the eye,
Woodpeckers in the trees,
a nice warm breeze.
Tickles and cuddles,
community huddles,
Firebird tickets,
hearing the crickets.
The meaning of home is my family and me.
Watering plants,
a cultural dance,
Free cooking classes,
Long church masses.
Home means warming famous patay,
siblings being naugh-tay.
The cold feel of my sheets,
Getting peties on my feet.
Home is family noodle sauces,
feeling others' losses.
Community parks,
hearing dogs bark,
Cheery morning anthems,
storybooks at random.
Community is home.
Baden fundraisers,
celebrating with some neighbours.
Fresh air,
All the care.
Gifts from my cousins,
faraway discussions,
Holding reunions,
and an ancestral French union.
Home is a soft blanket of protection,
home has a strong community connection.
Home takes a village to raise a child,
home, the spilling of rain is particularly mild.
Home is the fresh free air we breathe.
Home has every necessity I need.
Home is me being FREE.
