Senses Of Home
In my home I see
My family, not strangers.
My parent’s perfume, not the garbage.
In my home, I feel
My feet on the soft carpet, not concrete floors.
In my home, I taste
My mom’s delicious Roti, not cold food.
In my home, I hear
My kind and loving family, not construction.
In a Habitat for Humanity home, I see
A comfy new sheltered area for others.
In a Habitat for Humanity home, I smell
The new paint on the walls.
In a Habitat for Humanity home, I feel
An opportunity for Others.
In a Habitat for Humanity home, I taste
Satisfaction of having another safe home in the world.
In a Habitat for Humanity home, I hear
Volunteers making final touches.
I hope that Habitat for Humanity can make more homes like mine.
