A Home Is Not A House
A home is not a house,
It is not sticks nor stones,
It is not a wall nor a roof.
A home cannot be bought nor sold,
A home cannot be priced nor discounted.
A home is friends, family, and comfort,
It is kindness, happiness, and the sound of laughter.
A home is somewhere where you can be you,
Somewhere where you fit in and everybody respects each other, Somewhere where you can always get a helping hand.
A house is merely a box that you live in,
It is a spot to put all of your belongings,
Somewhere to sleep for the night.
A house can be replaced, priced, and sold.
It can be made from sticks or stones.
A home cannot be replaced.
It can be in the form of a group, a place, or a thing,
A group of friends, your homeland, or a mug of hot chocolate on a cold winter night.
It can be happy, comfortable, or full of laughter,
A home is a place where you have joy.
A house can be eerie, silent, and dark,
It can be empty, scary, and make you feel trapped,
It looms over you making you feel very small,
A house can be imposing.
Homes are the things that Habitat for Humanity are making.
Because of this, families will feel safe and comfortable,
They will feel happy and cared for,
A home is the greatest joy in the world.
