Home is where you can be yourself

Just like me, my home is made up of many special parts that make it unique. In my bedroom, the walls are dewdrop blue and there is a big window that overlooks the trees. It’s decorated with pictures of me and my brother. My room sounds like my brother laughing when I put on funny puppet shows. At night, I nestle under my warm quilt and read a book before I fall asleep. In my bedroom I feel safe. My kitchen is bright and cheerful. It smells of cinnamon candles and sizzling bacon. My kitchen sounds like the lively conversations I have with my mom at breakfast time. We eat my favourite breakfast, banana pancakes. They’re sweet and piping hot. In my kitchen I feel connected. In my yard there are leafy trees that are home to barred owls with feathers as brown as cocoa beans who swoop in the air that smells of pine. At night, me and my family have campfires and eat marshmallows that are as white as clouds while we tell scary stories. The flames crackle and the hot embers glow mango orange. In my yard I feel playful. My living room is comfortable. It feels like my puppy's fluffy fur when I rub his tummy. It sounds like my grandma teaching me to play the ukulele and my dad chuckling when I beat him at Sorry. In my living room I feel relaxed. Everyone deserves a home where they can be themselves. A bedroom they can decorate how they want. A kitchen where they can eat their favourite breakfast. A yard where they can play and explore. A living room where they can connect with family. My hope is that everyone can have a wonderful home like me.
