House versus Home
Home. Home is a place where I feel supported, loved, a place where I can be myself.
House. House feels empty, and dull.
Home. Home sounds like laughter as my father marches around my home playing accordion.
House. House sounds like the creaking of the cold wooden floorboards.
Home. Home looks like me reading in my peaceful, quiet bedroom just me and my cat.
House. House looks like walls and a roof.
Home. Home smells like fresh, light, buttery bread that my mom just pulled out of the oven.
House. House smells like concrete, and mortar.
When I hear the word home I immediately think of love, support, and safety.
When I hear the word house I think of walls and a roof.
I support Habitat for Humanity's mission to build affordable housing for those who don't have much and I hope that those houses are true homes.
