Home is more than one place
Home.
To me, home is more than one place.
It is Ontario,
My family,
My friends,
My school,
The lakes,
The trees,
The people.
The laughter during movie night with my family,
The smell of my Mom’s waffles,
The smile on my sister’s face after I make a joke,
The video games I play with my dad on my X-Box,
The fun sleepovers with my cousin,
My Family.
The funny calls I have with my friends,
The competitive soccer games I play at the park,
The laughter after I make a joke with my friends,
The fun I have while in Phys Ed,
My Friends.
The place where I learn and play,
The place where I grow from mistakes,
The place I socialize with my peers,
Where I grow and learn,
School.
This is Canada. The land of syrup, maple trees, and kind, inclusive people. My country.
Romania.
My home,
My native country,
the place I would fight for,
The mountains,
The black sea,
The dogs at my Grandpa’s,
The pool at Toroc,
The time I spend with my youngest cousin,
The place my Grandma cooks the best meals,
The place I go on walks,
The place I play soccer at the park,
The house my Grandpa resides,
The airplane rides to and from Canada,
My country, my people, my family, my language,
The second place I call home.
I sincerely thank Habitat for Humanity for providing a place people call home and for providing a place for people to make memories that will last a lifetime.
