No safer place to be then home

My home. My home isn’t just a structure with four walls and a roof. It’s not just a building with a door and a porch or a backyard with a garden and pool. I mean, sure it may have some of those features but that’s not what I mean when I say my home. My home is the place where I can be myself. It’s a place where I can go without feeling judged. It’s the place I grow, and become myself as a person. My house has a foundation of concrete, but my home has a mould of clay that shaped my family to become who we are to this day. It’s the place where I spread unbreakable love and trust with the people that matter the most in my life. It’s the place that continues to grow and spread wholehearted love that will never be replaced. Habitat for humanity isn’t just doing their job, they are changing people's lives, not only giving them a house that they can live in but a home that they can build memories and get a chance to feel safe and not have the worry about what it's going to be like coming home. They are helping them become part of a community, where they can finally have a home of their own. Bonds are a symbol of the relationship between the people that you love and what you’ve created. Your family symbolizes that. Your family isn't always the people that you were born into. Some people are given away at birth, or they get adopted because it’s what's best for them in a hard situation and that's okay because you can still create a home with them. Family has nothing to do with blood, but the people that you love, and the people that love you. To me, home is not a place it’s a feeling. It’s a feeling that comes to mind when you think of the place that you know is yours. It belongs to you and it always will no matter what, no matter where, and no matter when. It is the feeling that greets you when you walk through the door and know that is where you belong. It is made of experiences you’ve made along the way with your family. And it is where you become yourself because that home raised you not physically but mentally. My family is the bond of my home and it seals that bond forever and I will always carry that bond with me. Family makes your home. You know that feeling when you miss a loved one well that means you're homesick, you're overwhelmed and dismissive. And when you finally see them again suddenly it all goes away. That's because you love them. In other words, my home is my safe haven, it's my comfort place, it radiates love, and it's the place I'm the happiest out of everywhere in the world. Not because of my room, or the things that fill it, but because the people that are in those four walls of my home are my family, my favourite people in the whole entire world and I couldn’t even begin to imagine any other way I would rather live my life than with them. Love is the primary source of your happiness. You can’t be happy without loving what you’re happy about. Your family has security, trust, tolerance, gratitude and pride in one another. But most importantly your family loves you. My house shelters me from rain, wind, storms, and natural disasters that you can’t get rid of. But my home shelters me from things in the world that can emotionally hurt me like bullies, my insecurities, and stress. Sometimes in school I always want things to be perfect. I want everything to be perfect but I never get everything to be perfect and I wish I could just accept that, but I can’t. I get overwhelmed at school sometimes and going home after school makes me feel better. It's like all my worries are gone. Once I got home I felt safe and protected, I know I’m surrounded by the people who love and care for me. Many children just like me can experience bullying, racism, stress, anxiety and many more overwhelming problems in their everyday lives. Every child deserves a home or safe place to come home to. A place where they have the security to be themselves. Every child deserves a home where they feel loved, safe, and don’t have to worry that they won’t have a warm and loving place of their own, to call home. A place to be with their family and create that feeling of home. Habitat for Humanity helps people do that for people. Habitat for Humanity changes people's lives. One home at a time, One community at a time. I know that what they do for families is so needed and makes a huge difference in people’s lives. I know this because there is no safer place to be than home.
