What It Feels Like at Home

My home is a safe spot where I can relax. Where I can feel that I will be safe and my worries will just flow away. In my home I have people that love and care for me. It has my books which I like to read. I sometimes imagine that I’m in the story while I’m reading in my home. In my home there is my art work. I draw, color, and paint. I sometimes draw at home. When I am outside sometimes it feels cold and freezing, but when I am inside I feel warm and cozy. Sometimes when I go on a vacation and stay at a hotel, it doesn’t feel like home. It only feels like the opposite of home. I can’t sleep for minutes at a hotel because it feels different. At home I smell my mom making food which smells delicious. I sometimes sneak into the kitchen to grab a bite before eating. I live with other people in my home but that doesn't bother me because it’s their home too. I lived in a home I loved so much but we had to come to Canada to learn more English. It was quite unusual to move to another country because I had never lived in another country before. I was very excited at first, then I realized what about my friends and family? Then I got nervous. When we got here, it was different and it felt different too. As time went by I got used to living here. Now it really feels like home and I really mean it.
