Canadian Small-Town Home
Home, the greatest home of all. Where memories are made for life, and happiness spreads like butter on warm toast. The sight of warm, smooth, cozy blankets neatly folded on the couch is common. The bitter smell of coffee brewing in the morning light is expected. The sound of the seal breaking on my sliding door as my dog's clicking feet come indecisively in and out. That is home. Home is going outside and building an outstanding snow fort with your friends. A small town responsibility, where you shovel your neighbor's driveway when they’re gone. That's what home is. Home is where you walk to Tim Hortons to get timbits and an icecap, even though it's well below zero outside. Where your parents drive you 1 hour and 20 minutes to go to a hockey game. Home is where you walk outside and you don't have to worry about the air quality. That is home. Where you can swim in one of our many Great Lakes and it's just a short drive either way. Home is the option to camping in snow covered forests, rainbow filled trees, orand mosquito infested humid forests. That's what home is. Where you enjoy local, sweet, real maple syrup with soft fluffy pancakes. Holding the door open for someone else is just ingrained in you. I love my home. I love Canada.
