The Meaning of Home
What does home mean to you?
To me home means, walking through my front door and instantly getting a headache from the head-splitting howling drooling from furry friends. Charlie and Henry are jumping and happy to see me, they bounce up and down wildly and leave marks on the back door from there long nails just to drag a trail of mud through the house to be let in so they can leap into my arms and smother me with the wet slimy tongues as their tails wag wildly as if they haven’t seen me for weeks.
My home is in a quiet safe neighborhood with friendly neighbors that look after each other and have each other's backs .
The trees are still small and stubby but they are growing bigger every year. My friends all live close by so I can visit them anytime I want. I can walk to school and I can walk to the corner store. I can ride my new shiny black bike all over our small but charming town.
Home is a place where you can reset, relax, and unwind in a warm blanket on the couch. Home is the inviting smell of a home cooked breakfast with the sound of bacon sizzling on the stove and the smell of fresh maple syrup that your siblings drown their thin soft delicious pancakes in. All of it prepared by a loved one.
Home is the feeling of safety and no matter what you do you will always feel loved and safe.
Home is your family talking and sharing about their day during dinner.
Home is the place where you should feel like you
Belong.
