This is Why Home Is...
The beautiful glare of the lights.
The warm peaceful baths and showers at night.
The cozy movies on the big or small couch.
The friends and family that make me feel alive.
I feel free and loved on a rainy day.
The cute furniture that just sits there.
The peaceful songs I play while sleeping.
The tasty and smelly food in my mouth that shines in my nose.
The impossible-to-leave bed that I feel safe in.
This is why home is not a house.
Home is not a home when the lights are off most of the time, it’s not the same.
The cold and smelly baths and showers with mold, are not the same.
The cardboard couch and old tv are not the same.
The friends and family who are tired and hungry, are not the same.
Only a few spaces to move and the leaks in the wall, it’s not the same.
The rusty furniture that has to be sold, it’s not the same.
The songs that come to mind while sleeping, are not the same.
The expired food that’s rotten in the house, is not the same.
The beaten up bed with no frame, it’s not the same.
A house is meant to be a home.
