House vs. Home
In my opinion, “house” is the body and “home” is the soul. House is a strong, well-developed structure that protects the people and things inside and ensures safety. Home, on the other hand, is a feeling. It’s the inside of a house. With our cheerful vibes and positive energy we can convert any house into a home.
A home can be a house, condo, an apartment, a tent or any place where a person feels a sense of belonging. For most people a home provides security, comfort, family, memories, etc. It is personal to everyone and involves emotional attachment. For people who are homeless, their home may be a street or an alleyway. For a wanderer, home may be a tent or an RV.
A house is just a roof over your head. It is something you buy, then work on it to convert it into a home. A house is different from a home because a home can be anywhere you want, but a house can only be in one place. Just because you live in a house it may not be your home because for a place to be your home you have to feel safe and comfortable. Your home can also be a house in another country for example one that you lived in with your family.
A house will not give us a feeling of a home unless we personalise it to our needs and liking. A home is an emotion, whereas a house is a design. For me, home is the place where I can always be myself. When I'm away from home for to long, I miss it. Hence, “Home Sweet Home” is a fitting phrase!
