Moving To A New HOME!!!
Let me share a story of the time I moved homes. I wasn't born here in Canada, I moved to Canada about 6 years ago when I was 5 and a half years old. It was hard for my parents especially since they have been living in our country their whole life. Now they had to move to a whole new country, a 12 hour flight away. I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for my parents. I know that my brother and I don't remember a lot.
I moved to a house that slowly became my home. While we were renting the house the owners were traveling to the United Kingdom. Then the pandemic hit and they got stuck. You know how long the pandemic lasted, about 3 years and 3 years is a lot and they were stuck!!! That house became my home and I couldn't even think about moving. I wanted to live there the rest of my life. I would have been leaving my friends, school, neighborhood but especially I would have been leaving my home.
My parents were on the hunt to find a good house. They checked at least 20 or more houses and it was just a matter of time until the owners came back. But then we entered this new house, and I was sure this was the one. My parents looked through the house and said that it was ok and they got my approval and my brother's approval and the process of buying the house began. But this started to feel so real and I was getting nervous.
My whole life in Canada I have been living in that very home and I was scared all the memories we have collected were leaving me. But as my parents always say, GIVE IT A CHANCE.
So I did.
It was the day of the move and surprisingly the moving company was very sweet! We got settled in after a long day of moving and THE WORST OF THE WORST HAPPENED The dryer fell off the washing machine and it made a big BOOM!!! I was traumatized. I just felt like I was about to die and I almost needed therapy. So I would say the first night did not go so well.
It took some time to get used to the new house but I came to the conclusion that if you want to feel at home then you need your family, love, happiness, family , laughter, food, music oh and did I mention FAMILY?! For me family is all that matters for a good safe and warm home!
