Home is a Treasure Box

Home is a treasure box bursting with family, memories, and beloved belongings. When I imagine stepping through the door of my treasured home, I can feel its warmth shining like gold on my skin welcoming me inside. The voices of my family, and the sounds of my pets, fill the air like the clinking of jewels against one another. We are a loving and chaotic crew, each a precious keepsake in this treasure box. A treasure map of memories takes me from room-to-room in my home. Our living room reminds me of the fun of playing games together and laughing with my family. The kitchen reminds me of the time I was brave when the toaster caught fire. The bathroom reminds me of my parents bandaging my scrapes and cuts from my adventures in the yard. My room is the “X” that marks the spot, a special place that keeps me safe and hides me away when I snuggle up in my big warm blanket and cuddle my cat. Home is the treasure box that keeps me and my belongings safe. Home has a place for everything, and everything has its place. Having a home means I have a place that I belong, a place where I can be me, a place where I can be found. My home is the treasure box filled with the riches of my family, memories and a place where I belong. Habitat for Humanity helps other people make their own treasure boxes to fill with their most precious people, magical memories and beloved belongings and I am glad to have been able to share my treasures with you.
