What Home Means to Me
When we refer to home what does it really mean?
To me, a home is a place where I feel safe, knowing the next day not to be afraid,. To me, home can be anywhere, it could be the country or a special place, it could also be wherever I feel safe. If I had to define the word “home” I would describe it as a place where you can remember and relive all those beautiful memories that you cannot replace. Home can sometimes be empty, boring even, but with our warm hearts we liven it up with cheer. To me home lives inside of me, it does! No matter where I am or with whom I am with. Every step I take, home follows me because home and I are one. To me, home isn't a place where I live, it is much more than that. It is where it brings back those wonderful memories of my dad finding out he was going to become a father of two, where we spent all those birthdays and Christmas mornings, and all my childhood memories. I wish that everyone had a home, but not just the structure of a house. I hope that just by stepping inside their home they feel loved and that they know they are being cared for and know that their family members can help them build and grow. I just want to quickly thank all the volunteers that helped make homes, that helped create beautiful memories. We know you could have been using your time differently but instead you chose to help people experience the beauty of having a “home.” I’m writing this to inspire others like Habitat for Humanity has inspired me.
