What Home Means to Me
I wake up to hear the birds singing their morning song
As I enter the kitchen, I smell my mom making her waffles
I listen to my sister giggling with my dad
I see my dog running to me with her toy to say good morning
I feel my cat brushing up the side of my leg
My mom embraces me warmly
I feel loved
As I head to school
I hear my friends saying good morning
I feel loved
As I head to class, I hear my teacher greet my classmates at the
door
I feel at home
As we go out for recess
I feel the frigid wind blow against my face
I feel at home
In my community
At my school
With my friends
With my family
Our community spends hours making houses for us
For us to call home
for us to make memories
A lot of our community does not have a place to call home
They have nowhere to go
Imagine living on the cold and dark streets every night
The goal of Habitat for Humanity is to build homes for our
community
So that way our community has a place to call home
