What Home Means to Me

“A house is made of bricks and beams. A home is made of hopes and dreams.” Ralph Waldo Emerson This quote is true to me - home is where I love and dream. My house is a shelter where I live and I am safe. It’s made of wood, stone, and glass. My house is on a street, next to a school and a park where I learn and play. My house is warm in the winter and dry when it’s raining. At night, I can see people in their houses and the sunset, magenta and orange. Home to me is what’s inside a house. Home means family, fun, love and safety. I know I can sleep without worrying about anything. I am relaxed so I can rest. If I’m well rested I can learn and I’m not scared of things. My house protects my home. It keeps out the rain, wind and cold but my home keeps out the worry, the sadness, anger and fear. Home is where people are, where a community is. Where neighbors and friends help each other out with tasks that they can't do alone. A good community is one that welcomes others and helps them. Good homes make good communities that encourages people to live where that community is. Being a part of a community is great if you like to help others! I don’t like to see people without a house, or home, or both! Everyone needs a home and a safe place to survive and thrive. Remember: “A house is made of bricks and beams. A home is made of hopes and dreams.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
