Home will always be everything

They say "home is where your heart is"... but what do they say if your heart is split three ways? Let me explain... Picture this: One kid, three houses, three different cities, two different provinces. To me, home is a shelter where you and your family live and feel safe. It's also where you have food to eat and heat to keep you warm in winter, especially when we live in Canada. When I say my heart is split three different ways, what I mean is that my mom lives in one province with my step-dad and my brother, almost at the other end of the country. My dad and his girlfriend live in the same province but in two different houses, in two different cities. But, I feel like home is an important place you can always go to. I also feel like when I think of home I think of a place that I can count on to be there for me, it's like a safe place. I feel like everybody should have a safe place that they know will be there for them when they need it. I appreciate my houses for many reasons, one of the major ones being because no one should have to suffer in the winter because it's very cold outside or be very hungry because they don't have a table to eat a comforting meal at. Home is a very important place for everyone. When I think of my three homes, I think of family, warmth and comfort. It is a simple place that means the world to me. A house isn't just walls, windows and doors, it's where traditions are built and memories are made.
