The Meaning of Home

THE MEANING OF HOME Many people think that a home is a house, apartment, mansion or a place to live. However home is not a place, nor a thing. It’s more a feeling, a part of you. It’s not the house that is home, it's the memories, the dreams, the wishes, the people, the pets, and the adventures that the house holds inside. Notice how I said “the house” instead of “your house”. Home does not need to be a place to live, it doesn't need to be yours either. It needs to make you, you. It needs to have all the comfort and memories. Home is more than that, it lives within you. Without you it’s just a place or a thing. It’s no longer special. Your home is special, one of a kind. No one will ever see the beauty of your home as much as you do. They don’t see the beauty of your home since they don’t know the memories, the dreams, the people, the pets, the comfort nor the adventures that happened within those walls. Your home could be dirty, dusty, broken down, old, cheap, vintage or it could be fancy, new, expensive, modern or rich. However that doesn't mean it doesn't have a meaning behind it. By which might be the memories, the dreams that came true, the happy moments, the sad moments, the funny ones and the fun ones as well. Home needs you as much as you need it. Home needs you to be special, one of a kind. Home is your safe place. It's where you curl up into a ball bundled up in a blanket, where the people you love, huge you, care for you and make you feel happy, make you laugh, smile, giggle and over all just make you feel safe, strong and not alone. You can always count on your home to give you comfort and love. Home is a place with no secrets. The secret come out one way or another. In a diary, a journal, a song or in words, emotion, the way you acted that day. The secret comes out one way or another. Home is where you're free. Free to follow your own rules. Free to be who you are. Free to be judged by no one. Home is where you belong. There's no place you'd rather be. Home helps you remember who you are, who you used to be and who you want to be. If you forget who you really are, home will help you find yourself. You are free to be yourself at home. You can pretend to be someone else at school or work. Your home will always know who you are even if you might not. Everyone deserves a home. If you really think about it, deep down everyone has a home. Maybe not a place to live but a home definitely. No matter how far and long you travel. Home is a place you can always come back to.
