It all happened so quick, the virus, Schools were shutting down, We thought we’d be back in two week’s, That was 3 years ago. When Covid started we had to stay home, We had to stay home with our family. We were mad, we were sad, We were upset that we were not able to go anywhere, It was boring but we had our family with us. We had our family to keep us safe when it was raining cats and dogs and, When the virus was coming and you know what, We were in our home, Not just our family that kept us safe, our homes did too. The virus kept spreading but there were vaccines coming out, We had to get two doses of the vaccines and one booster, The vaccines hurt but we went through all of it with our family, At home it was not just four walls keeping us safe, It was our home and family. We had to adjust to online school but we were safe, We were at home with our family. The internet connection was slow at times And we had to be patient with all the technical challenges. Things started to open up and people were getting happy. Homes were built for people who did not have one, They gathered together to create a warm shelter from the cold winter. I am writing this poem because I want to donate money for the homeless, I want them to feel warm and feel safe as I do. Home is where you can be loved and feel safe, Home is where you can feel warm and feel soft, Home is wherever your heart is.
