Meaning of Home

Humanity has always needed homes. They have lived in mud huts thousands of years ago, or modern, beautiful houses now. Home is a place where you can escape from reality, feel safe and have a roof above your head. Some people don’t have homes, so they are forced to try and find money from the street. The Habitat for Humanity organization, helps people build homes to feel safe. In a good house, you should have: furniture, utilities, and shelter. But in a home, you should feel safe, secure, and have fun with your family or friends. Home to me is like a turtle shell. Just the right size and shape for me and my family. Without a home, I couldn’t go home at the end of the day, or sleep in a bed in my room just for me. My home is still mine, even if it’s thousands of miles away. When my family goes on trips, we stay in a house. It’s a very nice house, but the house is not my home. My home is in Canada, where I spend my time, laugh, and feel comfortable. When I am home, I can be with my family, pet my dog and laugh. If I didn’t have a beautiful home, I couldn’t feel safe, or get a good night's sleep. When I remember that people young and old, close and far, do not have homes, I feel that I need to do something, and that is what I am doing. When I submit this, even if I don’t win, 10 dollars are going to my local Habitat for Humanity organization, and when I do, I will know that I am making a difference for someone in Canada. I’m very lucky to have a home, and others should feel the same.
