The Meaning of Home

A house and a home are two different things. A house is a structure to live in, whereas a home is a place to share special memories. A house is a roof over your head and a home is a place to feel accepted and loved. A home is a special place, whether it’s an apartment or a three story house. It doesn’t matter what it looks like as long as it feels safe. A home should meet your family's needs, big or small. To some people a home means big family reunions, to others it’s just a space to hang out. It doesn’t matter how many chairs you have round your dining table, but how accepted visitors and guests feel in your home. To me a home is a place where there are pictures, personalized rooms and cozy areas where you can just sit down, relax and read a book. In a home you should feel loved, accepted, special and most of all safe. When I come home my dog is there jumping at my face, my cat is brushing against my legs and when I go to see my bunnies they come over and tickle my nose with their whiskers. Everybody's prospect of home is different but none of them are wrong because a home can be whatever you want it to be. If the address changes, it doesn’t matter, what matters is that you feel like you belong. That is what home means to me.
