Outside of Home
The next time you open the door and feel that chilly breeze, and close the door just imagine if there was no door to close, you were out on the street every night the same, cold, shivering, you can see each breath you take in the crisp and cold world around you.
The next time you sit down for a meal imagine the only way you would be able to eat that day is if you made a sign stand on the side of the road and ask people for money. Depending on how much you get is the only way you could eat that day. Even then it may just be a piece of bread or a bag of chips. You know when you get that sharp pain in your stomach and that is when you know you need to eat, well imagine that same pain constantly getting worse, that pain never goes away.
I keep saying imagine if, but it is truly imaginable.
So back to that first question what does home mean to me?
It means four walls and a roof, a place to come home to.
So next time you go to a friends house and see all the cool things they have and think “I wish I had all this stuff,” just be grateful for what YOU have.
My mom always says: “there will always be people who have more than you, but what you don't see is that there are so many more people who have so much less than you.”
