What Home Means to Me

‘Home is where the heart is”, is something that I have heard in many movies and books. It’s saying that the place doesn’t matter as much as the people you’re with. When most people hear the word “home” they think of their house but not me I think of the sounds and weather but mostly I think of England. When someone says the word home I immediately think of England. Lots of sounds and smells bring me back, but what really makes me think of England is walking in muddy fields with my family. Every day in England we would walk our dog and because it normally rains in England, the fields were always muddy. The sound of rain tapping on the windows and the smell of wet tarmac almost takes me back there. Rain, thunderstorms, lightning and wind are my favorite types of weather, especially when I am in my house with my family. The stormy weather always makes me feel cozy. A Lot of nights I find myself listening to the cold windy weather outside and thinking how lucky I am to be in my home. Music is also a big part of my home. Ever since I can remember, music and sound are a big part of home whether it's my dad singing or my sister playing the drums; music brings my family together. When I was 10, I went to my first music festival with my mum’s side of the family and ever since then, we've never been closer. Whether it’s an instrument or singing, music is a big part of my home and it always will be. Home isn’t just a house, it really is where the heart is. It’s a place where you feel loved and safe.
