What Home Means To me
In this essay I'm going to describe to you what home means to me, and that I’m so grateful to have one because I know that some people don’t. When I think of home, here's what comes to mind: uniqueness, love, safety, and family.
I think that all homes are unique because of the memories. So even two homes with identical furniture (which is VERY unlikely) can’t be the same. The most important memories are about the people you love--and pets too! But who lives in the home also makes it unique. There are different |types of families with different ages and genders and amounts of people.
Another thing that makes a home a home is love. When you're at home, hopefully love surrounds you. The love doesn't even have to be people! For example, maybe love is your nice cozy bed, or maybe it's your favorite spot to read at. It could even be a sense like the smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies coming straight from the oven or feeling the comfort of the soft carpet in between your toes.
A third thing that makes a home is safety. In a home you should feel safe and welcome, not worried, scared, or unsafe. To be safe, you should feel like you can be yourself, not someone you’re trying to be. To be safe, the people and environment around you should be safe, not dangerous or threatening.
And finally, the most important thing in a home is family, if you’re lucky enough to have one. They bring joy into a home just by being there. You see, when I was writing this, I spent some time wondering, are family and love the same thing? Yes, but families also bring lots of other things, like laughter, joy, fun, and so much more.
In conclusion, the world would be a better place if everyone had the things that I’m talking about in this essay. So by writing this I hope to change the world a little and hope that lots of people write letters about what home means to them, because we should all be working hard to make sure everyone has a home.
