A House Is A Home Because...
A house is a shelter made of doors, walls, windows, and stairs.
What makes it a home are the people who called it theirs.
My house is unique and different from yours.
My house was transformed into a home by the feelings of those who came through its doors.
This home meant something different to everyone it housed.
I asked them to tell me and here's what I found:
My Baba (Grandma) says: "This house became my home because our family could finally plant my roots afters years of moving around."
My Dziadek (Grandpa) says: "This house became my home because we could change it and make it truly our own."
My Apa (Grandpa) says: "This house became my home because it is where I truly fell in love and began my life anew."
My Ciocia (Aunt) says: "This house became my home because I felt safe and surrounded by people I love."
My Auntie says: "This house is a home because it is a place that accepts you for who you are."
My Mom says: "This house is a home because it keeps us safe in good times and bad."
My Daddy says: "This house is a home because it taught me the true meaning of family."
I have listened to others and I think I understand a house is a home because it is safe, it is accepting, it is loving, it is family, and it is with you always as the place you want to go home to. The next time you see a key in a house door, dare to imagine it could be so much more.
