The Meaning of Home

My home is not all about the people inside. To me, my home is where I feel accepted by not just others but also by myself. My home is warm and welcoming to anyone who enters. I never feel at-house when I’m there, I feel at-home. My home is where I feel safe and where I’m never afraid or anxious. It's about never having to worry about what's outside. It's about feeling protected instead of feeling distressed. My home is where I go whenever I’m upset It's where I’ve made the most memories, good and bad. Memories that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Memories of chilly December nights and watching movies during power outages with my whole family. Memories of playing board games for hours with my friends over the weekend. My home is about expressing myself not just through my looks and my words but also through my art and my music. It's where expressing myself isn’t just supported but also encouraged. My home is where I’m understood. Where I can talk for what seems like an eternity and the person I’m talking to isn’t just hearing me but listening and understanding me. My home is so much more than what you expect. It's more than just a few walls and a roof. My home is hundreds of different things, it's a world of opposites. If I could give everyone in the world a home like mine, there's no doubt in my mind that I would.
