More Than Bricks

What makes a house a home can be different for everyone. It doesn't have to include how the house looks, but who is inside and how they are towards each other and anyone who enters. I believe that my family has worked together to make our house a home. My home is a place where our family gathers. It includes my parents, siblings, grandparents and pets. Sometimes we even open our hearts and our home to children who temporarily need a family to care for them. Inside we celebrate each other and share moments of togetherness. We play, be silly and have fun. We create fun traditions like baking a cake for Jesus’ birthday on Christmas. Love is the centre of our home and we show it tenderly with hugs and by listening to each other. In our home we accept one another for who they are by encouraging them with praise and support. We are each other's cheerleader and we delight in their individuality. You could say that we are each other's first friends and best friends. Our home is friendly and a peaceful place to be. It is warm, dry and comfortable. It is a place I can feel safe and protected. We like to be hospitable and make others feel welcome too. I can share my feelings and know that they will be heard and understood. If you come to my house you will see a brick building. If you come in my door you will feel a sense of home. You will find a place where you can know how good it is to feel what I feel everyday. You will know love, acceptance, family and security. You will know what makes a house a home.
